Two Major Sporting Events and Two Exciting Countries in Two Weeks

This is the perfect itinerary for sports enthusiasts who love to travel. We are offering you the chance to combine an England Test match in Colombo Sri Lanka with either a trip to see the Hong Kong Sevens, or attend the inaugural Vietnamese Grand Prix in Hanoi. As well as enjoying the sport, you will have some spare time to explore these amazing cities at you leisure. All you have to do is decide whether you want to combine rugby or formula 1 with cricket.

Day 1, Wednesday 25 March – Fly to Colombo

Depart UK from London Heathrow on your flight to Colombo. Alternatively we can arrange flights from your regional airport.


Day 2, Thursday 26 March – Arrive Colombo

On arrival at the airport in Colombo, you will be met and transferred to the centrally located Taj Samudra Hotel, to check in for a five night stay. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax after your journey, or to explore the local area.


Day 3, Friday 27 March – 2nd Test Sri Lanka v England at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo

Return daily cricket transfers are provided to make your time in Colombo as easy as possible. The Sinhalese Sports Club Ground is one of the most famous cricket grounds in Sri Lanka. The Ground often cited as the Lord’s of Sri Lanka, hosts most domestic finals and is one of preeminent international cricket venues. The ground staged its first test in 1984 against a touring New Zealand team.


Days 4, 5, 6 & 7,  Sat. 28 to Tues 31 March 2nd Test Sri Lanka v England at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo

Return daily cricket transfers are provided.


Day 8, Wednesday 01 April – Depart Colombo

Free day to explore Colombo before taking an overnight flight to either Hong Kong for the Rugby Sevens, or Hanoi for the inaugural Vietnamese Grand Prix.


Option 1 – Hong Kong Sevens

Day 9, Thursday 02 April – Arrive Hong Kong

Arrive into Hong Kong and take a transfer to the Excelsior Hotel to check in for three nights. The rest of the day is at leisure to get to know your surroundings.


Days 10, 11 & 12, Fri 03- Sat 04 & Sun 05 April – Hong Kong Sevens

The Hong Kong Sevens is considered the premier tournament on the World Rugby Sevens Series competition. The tournament located at the Hong Kong Stadium, is only a 30 minute walk from the Excelsior Hotel.


Day 13, Monday 06 April – Fly to UK

Day at leisure before taking your overnight flight back to the UK

Day 9, Thursday 02 April – Arrive Hanoi

Arrive into Hanoi and transfer to The Hanoi Tirant Hotel, located in the centre of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The rest of the day is free to explore the area.


Days 10, 11 & 12, Fri 03 to Sun 05 April – Vietnamese Grand Prix

The Vietnam Grand Prix makes its debut in 2020.The race will be held on a temporary street circuit in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi.


Day 13, Monday 06 April – Fly to UK

Day at leisure before taking your overnight flight back to the UK.

Taj Samudra, Colombo

This hotel is just 7 km from Sinhalese Sports Club Ground and a 5-minute drive from Fort Railway Station. The guestrooms either have views of the Indian Ocean or city skyline.
