Golf holidays in the Canary Islands

Gran Canaria

The third largest of the seven Canary Islands; Gran Canaria’s climate is warm in winter, daytime temperatures average between 16C and 22C, with constant sun the year round. Generally, temperatures do not rise above 28C in the summer. This island is called a “miniature continent” due to the different climates and variety of landscapes found, with long beaches and dunes of white sand, contrasting with green ravines and picturesque villages. A third of the island is under protection as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Gran Canaria has eight magnificent golf courses that are spread around its territory. These courses were designed by professionals, and are some of the best in Spain. Like Tenerife, winter sun and a flying time of approximately 4.5 hours from the United Kingdom make Gran Canaria a wonderful location for a winter golf holiday.

Tenerife

The largest of the seven Canary Islands; Tenerife’s climate is mild and reasonably warm in winter with year-round sunshine. Generally, temperatures do not rise above 28C in the summer. At every turn you have lovely views of the surrounding deep blue Atlantic Ocean that is always close by. Due to the winter sun and a flying time of only 4.5 hours from the United Kingdom Tenerife makes an ideal destination for a winter golf holiday as the island has many diverse and stunning championship golf courses. Tenerife has a lively local culture, world-class accommodation and wonderful traditional foods such as wrinkly potatoes, mojo sauce and local cheeses. There are 19,700 acres of vineyards producing some wonderful wines rarely seen in the United Kingdom.
